At Nonna’s Table with Paola Bacchia

Over the course of the year, we're taking the opportunity to welcome a series of creative peers who make up our wonderful community.

On Sunday April 28, Paola Bacchia  joined us upstairs to launch her new cookbook,  At Nonna’s Table. Paola is a local cook with heritage in the Istrian Peninsula and the Veneto region of Italy. For Paola, “eating and sharing go hand in hand” and she stayed true to this over a seasonal four-course menu with nostalgia-filled dishes designed for family tables.

Paola Bacchia

Paola is a local cook with heritage in the Istrian Peninsula and the Veneto region of Italy. Paola’s popular blog, Italy On My Mind, is a treasure trove of recipes and is a constant inspiration for travels across Italy. She has previously published a book, Istria and spends time each year  in Italy researching, leading food tours and teaching classes in Trieste, Puglia, Istria and Sicily.

La Famiglia is fundamental to the Italian identity, and Paola’s latest cookbook pays homage to her mother, Livia, in 60 treasured recipes that celebrate the best of home cooking. It’s a book filled with bold flavours, beloved Italian techniques and stories from both Paola’s childhood and her mother’s life. We enjoyed welcoming Paola to our restaurant, eating her delicious food and hearing her stories about the family kitchen.
